Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced plans on Saturday to station tactical nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus.

Putin stated the plan was in response to Britain’s determination this previous week to offer Ukraine with armor-piercing rounds containing depleted uranium. Russia falsely claimed these rounds have nuclear elements.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has lengthy requested for the weapons, Putin stated, talking in an interview on Russian state tv.

He stated building of storage amenities for the weapons in Belarus can be accomplished by July 1.

Russia used the territory of Belarus as a staging floor to ship troops into Ukraine, and Moscow and Minsk have maintained shut navy ties.
