Disney Reportedly Begins First Spherical of Layoffs in Plan to Lower 7,000 Workers

Disney this week will begin the primary of three rounds of layoffs, in response to a report from Deadline on Monday. 

CEO Bob Iger reportedly despatched a memo to Disney staff in regards to the begin of layoffs that can minimize roughly 7,000 staff beginning this week, with one other spherical coming in April and a 3rd spherical occurring over the summer time.

Iger returned to Disney as CEO in November following the ousting of Bob Chapek. In February, Iger indicated the corporate deliberate to cut back the corporate’s workforce.  

Layoffs have hit tech firms hardest in latest months. Microsoft, Meta and Amazon laid off 1000’s of staff in 2022 and have introduced extra cuts for 2023.
