It is now perfectly clear why Steve Bannon chose to face a criminal contempt charge after being questioned by the special committee.
Media Matters was reviewing tapes from Bannon’s podcast in the days leading up to January 6th. The tapes prove that Bannon knew about a secret plan, he knew it was going to be historical, evil, a “fight” and that they needed as many people as possible there.
The “mix” in ribbons jumps back and forth (in days) to most certainly highlight the most devastating material near the top.
There is no point in indulging in any preliminary analysis other than the fact that the reader is asked to remember that all of this was available to law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Not only is the lack of additional protection devastating, it must have alerted the authorities that some Capitol police officers could easily be killed on Jan. 5 and they chose not to come.
This is Bannon with … to indicate jumps in the tape. Actual band below:
It won’t happen the way you think it will. It will be very different, extraordinarily different. And I can only say: buckle up. The war room, a troop. YOU made this possible and tomorrow is game day.
President Trump’s first term ends in action, and the second semester begins with a BANG. We guarantee you that …
…And so is the fight [on]. This is a huge weekend. It will be so much There’s a tremendous battle going on behind the scenes. We are heading towards June 6th (he clearly means January, there was no rally on June 6th).
A lot is happening this week. People get excited, people get excited. People and I are getting crazier as we should.
You and I happened to have a phone call last night, it was so brilliant going through this week’s framework.
(This was January 5th, in anticipation of the fight to go to Congress with Pence. Remember, Pence refused to get into a Secret Service SUV deep below the Capitol for fear of a Secret Service conspiracy .
… “[T]There are a lot of tough hombres down here and I saw some of them when we had it Meet down there… They were all still thinking about their plans for the day. Like one or two in the morning. I think people are fluffy …
They will all meet on January 6th. We just have to impose our will on the opposition.
The two paragraphs above are probably the most momentous. These two paragraphs assume that Bannon is admitting that they are expecting a coup.
We are racing towards something that will be complicated and nasty. Nothing could be more turbulent than what will happen this week….
… You have to be there, this is going to be historic, remember how the republic fell, right? And became a totalitarian, authoritarian empire. We are in this moment.
Do we confirm the massive landslide or Donald Trump or do we give the constitutional republic to them“Forces …”
“… People don’t see the calls, we skype around, to see through the fog of war, we need to be clear that January 6th would be” that day “…”
In short, it sounds like he “was” in hindsight. Instead, the audience is simply made aware of which day they decided to implement their plan.
“…or one of those big days, January 6th was supposed to be that day and everything had to be merged into January 6th.
“… This is a wound that will not heal, we are rushing to a constitutional crisis that will make the impeachment (first) look like a Sunday picnic …
“This is going to be a historic day, it will be part of history. We want as many people as possible to take part. 48 hours away … “
With Giuliani
“…48 hours away from … [indecipherable, Rudy buts in] momentous days in American history. “
And so it is now, an explanation of why Bannon would risk a year in prison for criminally disregarding Congress for testifying. The questions put to him would require an answer claiming the 5th Amendment, and questions could be phrased to provide information even if the 5th “Can you share what President Trump knew that was historical?”
“On the advice of a lawyer, I decide to invoke my 5th right to amend in order to …”
The other thing that requires immediate action now is subpoenas to the then director of the Secret Service, FBI, NSA, CIA, certain military personnel in the Pentagon, and DOJ. Americans felt that these agencies existed to protect and defend the United States Constitution.
