Former MLB infielder and govt Sal Bando died Friday after a battle with most cancers. Bando spent 16 years within the majors, together with 11 in Oakland, successful three World Sequence trophies with the A’s within the early ‘70s.

The four-time All-Star completed his profession with the Brewers, later serving as Milwaukee’s GM from 1991-99.

“It’s with a heavy coronary heart, the Bando household is unhappy to announce the passing of its beloved husband and father, Sal, who final night time misplaced his battle with most cancers that started over 5 years in the past,” the Bando household mentioned in an announcement on Saturday. “Sandy, Sal’s spouse of 54 years, and sons Sal Jr., Sonny and Stef, ship their like to household, associates and followers who mourn the lack of a humble and devoted man.”

Bando batted .254, slugged 242 residence runs, and is a member of the A’s Corridor of Fame. Outdoors of baseball, he had a cameo on a 2006 episode of “The Simpsons.” He was 78.
