Prosecutors within the western state of Jalisco stated the 53-year-old parish priest was killed by two shotgun blasts within the city of Atotonilco El Alto on Friday.

Prosecutors stated a relative fired the pictures that killed the priest, and stated the motive was “presumably household disputes.” The suspect fled on a motorbike after the killing.

“The causes, as at all times, are unknown,” the church middle stated in a press release. “Some hypotheses level to conflicts over land titles. However the parishioners of Our Woman of Guadalupe parish in Guadalupe Valley had been indignant over the killing of a priest who they revered for his pastoral work.”

The church’s Catholic Multimedia Heart stated not less than two dozen clergymen had been killed beneath former president Enrique Peña Nieto, who served from 2012 to 2018.

In the meantime, within the northern Mexico border metropolis of Tijuana violent threats pressured the cancellation of a deliberate live performance by the norteño band Grupo Arriesgado.

The band is from Sinaloa and is understood for singing “narco corridos” or “warfare corridos” about drug traffickers.

In a press release, the band wrote “because of the occasions of the previous couple of days and in accordance with the needs of the authorities, a choice has been made to cancel the present,” which was to be held Saturday evening.

The band didn’t particularly consult with violence or threats, however wrote “at Grupo Arriesgado and GA Music, the protection of our followers is our first precedence.”

A hand-lettered signal held on an overpass previous to the live performance warned the band’s lead singer that he was not welcome in Tijuana. The message was signed “CJNG,” the initials of the Jalisco New Era Cartel, which has been disputing turf with the Sinaloa cartel.

And native media posted video of an autograph session held by members of the group at a shopping mall previous to the live performance, by which gunshots will be heard.

In accordance with the band’s website, it’s scheduled to play concert events in Arizona and California in March.
