Attorney General Merrick Garland didn’t go into specifics at his press conference, but he did send a clear message to the top of the 1/6 plot.

Garland said:
The measures that we have therefore taken far will not be our last. The judiciary remainsobliged to keep everythingJanuary 6 offender on everyonelegally responsible level, whether they were thereDay or were otherwisecriminally responsible for thatAttack on our democracy.
We will follow the facts wherever they lead.Because January 6th was a unprecedented attack on theSeat of our democracy, weunderstand that there is a broad public interest in ourExamination. We understand that there isAsk how long theInvestigations take andabout what exactly we do.
Garland’s remarks were a message to those who are or have been in the highest levels of government that if they take part in Trump’s attempted coup, they are not above the law.
Attorney General Garland spent much of his press conference explaining the investigative process and explaining why the DOJ is taking so long to reach the people at the forefront of the coup plan.
The investigation may not go as fast as some would like it to be, but Garland’s remarks make it clear that he is methodical and has taken no one off the table for possible prosecution.
