Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) ushered in the New Year with some anti-COVID supporters by calling Omicron a “sore throat”.
Rubio tweeted:
Record numbers that tested positive for a sore throat are not a crisis
And people in the hospital for car accidents who test positive are not a surge
The real crisis is irrational hysteria, where people with no symptoms wait hours for a test or cannot do any work for 10 days

Omicron symptoms are only mild when a person is vaccinated and boosted, like Sen. Rubio. Those who are not vaccinated can still get very sick with the Omicron variant and end up in the hospital. There have been isolated reports of Omicron-related deaths.
Rubio’s comments were the culmination of an official’s irresponsibility. The people being tested for COVID are not hysterical. They are people who are sick or trying to avoid illness after potentially being exposed over the holidays.
It’s easy for a fully vaccinated hypocrite like Marco Rubio to label Omicron as nothing while people in Florida are testing positive in record numbers.
Marco Rubio feels Rep, Val Demings, on the back of his neck but has taken his right-wing ingratiation to a new low while lighting America’s COVID patients with gas.
