South Korean startup Lunit has signed a reference site agreement with RadLink, a Singapore-based private provider of diagnostic and molecular imaging services to the Fullerton Health Group.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Lunit’s AI software for chest x-ray and mammography – Lunit INSIGHT CXR and Lunit INSIGHT MMG – will be presented at RadLink. Both AI-powered products detect lesions on X-rays, which can indicate breast abnormalities and breast cancer, with an accuracy of 96 to 99% and provide a visual representation of the finding locations.
Meanwhile, the two companies are also collaborating on a clinical study with Lunit INSIGHT MMG to further investigate the value of AI in reading mammograms. The results of the study are to be published next year.
WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
Dr. Chee Way Eng, RadLink’s medical director and general manager, said in a press release that they hope that Lunit’s AI products will “improve the overall productivity and accuracy” of their radiologists.
RadLink Head of Breast Imaging and Consultant Dr. Niketa Chotai mentioned that the initial results of using the Lunit Mammography tool “look impressive” and that it “feels like another expert is evaluating the images”.
Drs Eng and Chotai will act as ambassadors for Lunit and will also do analysis and case studies with its AI software.
“We are excited to introduce our AI solutions to RadLink to create clinical value and ensure healthier lives for people in the area,” commented Lunit CEO Brandon Suh.
THE BIGGER TREND
Lunit also has Fujifilm’s chest x-ray software called CXR HELP with the Lunit INSIGHT CXR. The integration enables the software to display findings using heat maps and to evaluate abnormalities. The chest x-ray machine has been approved by the Japanese Medicines and Medical Devices Agency.
In September, Lunit received approval from the Health Sciences Authority in Singapore to commercialize its two AI tools.
New INSIGHT products for breast CT and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) will be announced shortly, Lunit said earlier this month. It was previously known that the Lunit INSIGHT DBT is able to select a 3D slice image with suspected lesions from several images, while the Lunit INSIGHT Chest CT automatically generates the position, type, volume and axial diameter of a recognized module.
