The scene comes late within the movie because the ship begins to go down. Lots of the passengers within the lower-class cabins have been locked behind steel gates, and so they know they will drown. We see a clip of Goldstein’s character telling her little youngsters an Irish fairytale of a land of everlasting youth and wonder, attempting to get them to sleep earlier than they notice what’s occurring. 

Goldstein recalled capturing the scene and the younger actors she labored with.
