Alphonso Davies has ruled out an immediate return to action at Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga giants found signs of heart muscle inflammation in a player who recently recovered from COVID-19.
It’s a diagnosis that will keep the Canada international out of Bayern’s upcoming games and he will also be forced to miss Canada’s three World Cup qualifiers set for late January.
The German champions suffered a 2-1 defeat by Borussia Mönchengladbach in Davies’ absence and the talented 21-year-old will not be back in the competition anytime soon

How long will Alphonso Davies be out?
Ahead of a trip to Cologne on Saturday, Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann told reporters while offering an update on Davies: “Yesterday we found signs of mild myocarditis at our follow-up examination that we carry out with every player who has had COVID-19 , an inflammation of the heart muscle.
“He has stopped training for the time being, so he will not be available to us for the next few weeks.
“This myocarditis is not too dramatic according to the ultrasound, but rather a sign of inflammation. Still, it needs to heal, and that will certainly take some time.”
According to a report citing the player’s agent, the length of his absence will be at least four weeks.
Nick Househ, agent for Alphonso Davies, told me he spoke to Davies after an MRI showed Davies had a “mild” case of myocarditis.
Davies, who got his Covid-19 vaccine booster in December, is feeling good, Huoseh said.
Davies was sidelined for at least 4 weeks.

How many games will Alphonso Davies miss?
After Davies was forced to extend a period on the sidelines, it remains to be seen when Davies will be cleared to return to action.
In any case, he will sit out the match against 1. FC Köln on January 15, while FC Bayern will visit Hertha BSC on January 23.
An important home game at RB Leipzig will take place on February 5 before heading to Bochum a week later.
Nagelsmann’s side will re-enter Champions League competition on February 16, with the first leg of the round of 16 against Red Bull Salzburg taking them to Austria and Davies could be watching all those games from afar.
However, further medical checks will be carried out in Munich to provide a more precise timeline for the privateer’s full-back’s recovery.

Will Davies miss World Cup qualifier in Canada?
Canada has an important run of World Cup qualifiers in late January that could put them in position to qualify for their first men’s World Cup since 1986. With Davies forced to miss those games, it could deal a serious blow to Canada’s promotion hopes.
The Canada men’s team is currently first in regional qualifiers with six games to go. Three of them will be played in January and February: in Honduras (January 27), against the USA (January 30) and in El Salvador (February 2). The top three teams will automatically receive spots for Qatar 2022.
Six points or more from the nine available points in the next three games would put Canada in a prime position to book a Qatar 2022 ticket.
