Google is who want to help users navigate the insurance coverage area with a new tool that will allow users to verify that a provider is on the network.
Users can search for a specific provider and see which insurance networks they are using. Google also allows Medicare members to filter their cell phones to find providers in their area who will accept their insurance.
“By providing up-to-date and reliable health information, as well as relevant resources and tools in Google Search, we are constantly looking for ways to help people make more informed decisions about their health. Here are a few new ways we’re helping, ”said Hema Budaraju, director of Google Search, in a blog post announcing the news.
The tech giant has also developed a feature that shows which languages are spoken in each vendor’s offices.
On the provider side, doctors and healthcare providers can use their business profile to update their services and opening times.
WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
It can be difficult for patients to find a provider who can take out their insurance and see them in a timely manner. Actually, According to the Urban Institute, 13.5% of people with employer-funded insurance and 22.9% of people with Medicaid or public health insurance had difficulty finding a provider in the past 12 months.
Those with chronic illnesses and incomes below 138% of federal poverty were more likely to have difficulty finding a provider.

This is one of several new health-related features that Google introduced over the last year. In October a new mobile version of. presented Google Care Studio, a physician search tool that helps organize patient medical records.
This isn’t Google’s first attempt at helping patients find providers. In September,Google has introduced new search and maps tools that display more information on a healthcare provider’s company profile.
Google has also rolled out several COVID-19-related search features, including one tool that helps users find vaccination sites and another that helps users find test sites.
