DONKS, by artist Felix Colgrave, options creatures and objects current someplace between the summary and the figurative. I like how Colgrave depends closely on sound to provide every character and scene a definite persona. I additionally love how the creatures and objects on this movie are composed of hodgepodge shapes and objects that one would not count on to see mixed collectively. The title comes from a field of miscellaneous plastic objects my little one has. Issues that aren’t categorically blocks or collectible figurines or something describable. I referred to them as “gonks”, which was pronounced by my then-2-year-old as “donks”. This movie was me making my very own set of donks, and constructing foolish issues out of them.
