The Supreme Court has refused to block Maine’s mandate to vaccinate health workers.
A group of unvaccinated workers argued that the vaccination mandate violated their rights to freedom of religion.
The right wing of the court – Judges Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito – disagreed and would have suspended the mandate during the appeal process.
The Supreme Court’s refusal to block the vaccination mandate is bad news for Republicans
On the same day that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he would sue President Biden over the vaccine mandate, the Supreme Court sent a loud and clear signal that they were not ready to overturn vaccine mandates. The High Court was not interested in lifting a mandate that included a religious exception, so it is very unlikely that it would be interested in lifting the mandate because Ron DeSantis wants to be president.
The Supreme Court ruling is bad news for Republicans and yet another sign that vaccine mandates remain.
