America Postal Service (USPS) introduced plans to buy hundreds of electrical supply automobiles from Ford Motor Firm. The transfer is a part of the USPS’s efforts to ‘greenify’ 75% of its fleet over the following 5 years. 

USPS awarded a contract to buy 9,250 Ford E-Transit Battery Electrical Autos (BEVs). The primary supply of the EV mail vehicles will start in December of this 12 months.

The Ford E-Transit BEVs are manufactured in Kansas Metropolis, Missouri,” USPS wrote in a press release. 

Along with the 9,250 EV mail vehicles, USPS awarded contracts to a few suppliers for the acquisition of 14,000 charging stations to be put in at mail amenities. 

“We’re shifting ahead with our plans to concurrently enhance our service, scale back our value, develop our income, and enhance the working surroundings for our staff. Electrification of our car fleet is now an vital element of those initiatives,” Postmaster Normal Louis DeJoy stated within the assertion. 

The contract is a big pivot for USPS, which had introduced early final 12 months that it might exchange its 30-plus-year-old fleet of mail vehicles with gasoline-fueled fashions made by Oshkosh Corp.
