Rep. Lofgren told CNN’s Anderson Cooper:
As you know, in a previous hearing, we spoke about the hundreds of millions of dollars the former President has raised. Some of this money is used to pay attorneys for witnesses.
And it is not clear that this arrangement is free of coercion for some of these witnesses. Let’s just put it that way. It’s a concern. And anyone trying to dissuade or manipulate a Witness should realize that it is a crime. And we are well prepared to make any evidence we have available to the relevant authorities.
The 1/6 committee doesn’t mention things without reason. The committee raised witness intimidation because they have reason to believe Donald Trump is intimidating witnesses.
If Trump uses donor funds to intimidate witnesses, that’s a crime, and it could be one the Justice Department will be very interested in.
The general perception is that the 1/6 Committee is extremely well prepared and appears to have Donald Trump nailed.
The road to Trump’s criminal indictment may be his witness intimidation campaign against 1/6 Committee witnesses.
