Rep. Raskin replied after MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell asked about a possible subpoena on Trump:
Well it wasn’tsummoned, but we expect everyonewho is summoned to adhere to it?lawful orders.Obviously he’s making noises about the privileges of the executive branch. The idea that kind ofis expanding on Steve Bannon weird and weird. Steve Bannon was fired in 2017a few years before January6. Attacks even took place.Even for Donald Trump, it’s a very far-fetched argument because in a claim of the executivePrivilege that does not keepto a human but tothe office.
Joe Biden said there is no problem with turningthis stuff over.Even if Trump somehow try to take that to courtyou weigh is the publicoverwhelming interest in knowingabout our own government and thatSecurity of our own governmentagainst an asserted claimessentially at the national levelSafety. But here the public and nationalSecurity are on the same side of itthe equation, both forDisclosure of everythingSteve Bannon knows everythingDonald Trump actually knowseverything that each of us knowsbecause that was a massive crimeagainst the republic. We have no attack on the C. seenapitol so since the war by 1812.Or an attack on the republiclike that since the civil war.
The 1/6 Committee is expected to vote quickly to convict Bannon in criminal contempt of Congress, and the DOJ is expected to act promptly to indict Bannon.
The committee is sending a message to Trump and all of his staff that it is best not to even think about refusing a subpoena or they could end up behind bars.
